Sapphire

This magnificent gemstone comes in many colors ranging from transparent grayish-blue to yellow, purple and a pink-like orange called Padparadscha.  This jewel evokes the pink tones of the Lotus flower and the golden burst of a sunset.  We associate the color of the blue sapphire to feelings of sympathy, harmony friendship and loyalty.  Its constancy and durability are qualities associated with this gemstone.  The sapphire belongs to the corundum group – a group of gemstones with exceptional hardness, exceeded only by that of the diamond (the hardest mineral on Earth).  Sapphires are easy to look after, and sapphires in the Carol Levy Collection are certified and extremely rare.
